Back To Work

Posted on May 27, 2009 - Filed Under Tacoma, Year Two

The holiday weekend is over and I am back to work.  I am grumpy and not very fun right now.

I spent a majority of the weekend going on walks with Alex around our neighborhood.  Travis was at his fathers house all weekend, and Toni was gone quite a bit running errands on Saturday and Monday.

Walking is always an adventure with Alex.  Our most interesting discovery this weekend was the leaves that spin like helicopter blades when they fall to the ground.  During one of our walks, we stopped a tossed several into the air to watch them fall.

Saturday we spent an hour and a half walking to the playground, playing and then home before Alexanders nap time.  He slept 3 hours for his nap!  When he woke up it was play time in the back yard for a few more hours.  The kid can just go and go…

Mom spent Sunday afternoon with Alex so Toni and I could catch a Rainiers game.  Always fun to sit in the sun, have a beer and watch baseball at Cheney Stadium.

While we were at the game, Alex introduced mom to the helicopter leaves when they went for a walk.

Monday was another day for walking.  We spent another hour and a half  just wandering around the area talking to neighbors and looking for lawnmowers.  Alex love lawnmowers and everytime we see one it is a big event.  brought him home for another 3 hour nap and then he was up and ready for another walk.  This time Toni joined us for a “small” walk of 45 minutes.

I wish there was a “tot lot” closer to our house.  The closest thing we have is the Whitman Elementary playground which is ok but it is always empty.  Lincoln Park is still under construction and honestly, it is full of homeless people and not kids.

Wish the South end of Tacoma would get some love from the city, but they seem intent on spending money on downtown and nothing more.

There is a new play area on the corner of 48th & Park. It is not very big but big enough for peanut.
