The Wii Is Taking Over My Family

So my aunt Rose calls me last week and says she wants to ask a favor. Usually this means helping with the computer or helping around the yard, and I am happy to help. I’d do anything for her.
What was the favor this time? She needed help hooking up a Wii to her TV. I almost pooped my pants.
I would have never, ever pegged her as a gaming person, let alone someone that would go buy a Wii. But she did, and I was happy.
The amazing thing to me is how well Nintendo hit the mark with this console. It appeals to, and is accessible to almost everyone. The hardcore gaming crowd will never embrace this console, and that is ok.
Turns out my aunt is pretty damn good at Wii bowling. She smoked by 15 year old who has been playing since we bought ours last year. Now my aunt has challenged my mother. h oh.
You have to understand that this goes well beyond your normal sibling rivalry. I always joke that the two of them will end up in a retirement home together, and will always have their hands around each others throats, but not enough strength to actually choke each other.
Anyway, the gaunlet has been thrown and now there are bowling challenges between the two of them. My mother just left my house on her way to my aunts house for the challenge. She was here to “practice” and trying to find one of the Wii Sports games she would be good enough to win.
Amazing.
I assume I’ll hear sirens in an hour or so coming from the direction of my aunts house, as my mother and aunt are fighting over who is the better Wii player.

And, although the mommie didn’t smoke her, it was the best bowling score she ever had in her entire life and the “bowl-a-thon” is on. Barely ever bowled over 100 at the real game. Like this one better.
