Post Holiday Update

Posted on December 29, 2008 - Filed Under Fitness, Holiday, Life, Year Two

We survived Christmas.

I actually enjoyed this holiday more than most.  In the past I have always felt a little bit of dread when the holidays approach.  Too much motion for me.  going here and there, trying to make sure we are at everyones house on time and then trying to get to another one.  That and the shopping, it’s just too much sometimes.

This year was different.  We didn’t really need to shuffle all over the place.  Sean and Elizabeth spent the night with us on the 23rd and 24th, and were with us Christmas morning.

We woke up early, Sean and Toni made a huge breakfast for us and we all had the chance to spend time together without feeling rushed.

This was the first Christmas that Alex figured out that presents are meant to be opened.  He ripped into his gifts with gusto and enjoyed shredding the paper.  The funny thing is that at his age, he enjoys the empty boxes more than the gifts he got.  Too bad that wont last…

We spent the afternoon with my family over at my aunts house for dinner.  Again, nice and relaxed.  There was a little firl there around Alexanders age and he seemed to enjoy having someone his size around.

The rest of the holiday weekend was pretty quiet.

I spent time slacking off and playing games like I usually do, and spent time goofing around with Alex and just enjoying my time with him.  Reminds me a lot of how things were when Travis was his age.

Travis spent time at his fathers house for a day, then came home and spent lots of time at the mall with his friends looking for post-holday deals.

My new focus is to lose some weight again.  I lost 25 pound last year and have gained about 11 back.  Not very happy about it.

I think all of the pressue of the new job, my grandmothers death and general stress piled on top of that has had an impact.

I am going to start working out again and change my diet back to eating the right way.  I’ve been terrible with my diet and have revered back to eating  crap food.

I’ll probably go back to what worked.  Tracking my food and calorie intake, and using the recipes from SparkPeople like last time.  I found that most of the food listed in their archives tastes great and is generally pretty healthy.  And it worked last time so… why not?    The difference this time will be my workout plan.  I am really going to hit it pretty hard this time around and by spring/summer you folks are going to be shocked at what you see.
