Sprayground And Baseball

Posted on May 19, 2008 - Filed Under Baby Life, Rainiers, Summer, Tacoma

We had a great weekend, spending most of the time outdoors enjoying the small heatwave that passed through the Northwest.

Saturday we packed Alex and Travis into the car and hit the north end Sprayground at Jefferson Park.  Alex was dressed in his Baby Banz UV protection swim suit and slathered in SPF 45 so we let him loose.

The Sprayground was packed and THE place to be on a 90 degree summer day.  Jets of water shoot up from the ground and across the entire area plus large buckets connected to posts that fill and dump water on people below.  Alex was a little cautious at first and probably overwhelmed at being around so many people in one area.  Once he was comfortable Alex started playing int he water, taking a few shots of water to the face and enjoying himself.  It was nice to see him have fun and enjoy that type of activity.

We stopped at Cold Stone on the way home for treats and called it a night.

Sunday we spent the afternoon at the Rainier’s game and watched the Rainier’s lose 4-2 against the Tuscon Sidewinders.  Doug Davis was throwing for the Sidewinders and looked pretty good in his rehab start before heading up to the Diamondbacks rotation.  Davis is recovering from surgery to remove his thyroid due to thyroid cancer.

Our favorite knuckleballer, R. A. Dickey was on the mound for the Rainier’s and looked decent.  There were a few passed balls by Rob Johnson who looked like he had a hard time catching the knuckleballs.

I am glad we picked up the 24 game VIP package from the Rainier’s, we are having fun at the games even though the Rainier’s seem to be losing every time we are there.  It’s been nice to get our of the house with Toni and have something that the both of us can enjoy together.  I love being around the kids, but have a new appreciation for the “mommy and daddy” time we get, even if it’s for a few hours.
