New Adventure, Coughing and Old Times

Posted on March 14, 2008 - Filed Under General, Life, Work

I’ve been very busy the past week trying to get some things taken care of in my life.

After almost 10 years with Boeing I have decided to leave the company and get a fresh start with T-Mobile.

I’ve accepted a job with T-Mobile and start my new adventure on March 31st. It’s a big jump, kind of scary and kind of exciting at the same time. T-Mobile made an offer I couldn’t refuse, and the team of people I’ll be working with seem like great folks. I have heard many positive things about working for them and look forward to the challenges ahead.

Unlike my current job, I wont be working out of the house as much, if at all. I get to fight the morning commute to Bellevue and back every day which will take some getting used to. I’m looking at alternative methods right now, either car pool or public transportation.

The one thing that scares me the most about this is my time away from the house. I am used to being here for Toni and the boys and I am afraid I’ll miss out on something important if I’m not around.

Travis has been sick with one of the worst coughs I’ve ever heard. He is recovering after being down for almost 3 days. Just in time for Alexander to develop a set of sniffles.

Trying to keep the clan healthy is turning out to be difficult. It feels like we’ve been in an endless cycle of cold and flu for the past month and it sucks. I thought that eating healthy and losing 22 lbs would help fight this stuff off.

The past month I’ve heard from two friends that I have not seen since Jr. High and High School. It’s great to hear from both of them and catch up as they were both pretty important people in my life during those years.

Dee (Hi Dee if you are reading this) was my partner in crime in Jr. High along with our friend Tonya. We were silly and had lots of fun at Mason Middle School. That time frame was the beginning of spiked hair and punk rock for me with lots of wild ideas about how I was going to grow up to be a rock star or do something cool.

Dee also gave me my second dog, Dunkin. I had a dog named Cindy when I was a kid but I don’t remember much about Cindy. Dunkin was kind of like my first “real dog” if that makes sense. I loved that dog so much and she was very important to me growing up. Years later when she was old and near death we had her put to sleep. One of the hardest things I have ever done.

It’s been great catching up with Dee and makes me appreciate old friendships like that even more.

I’ve also been in contact with an old High School sweetheart named Anne. It’s funny to catch up with her after 20 years and see how life has progressed. I was a complete ass when dating her and, looking back on it, feel pretty bad about some of the stuff I did.

It was also nice to hear that her friend Felicia is doing well and looking great. I had a kind of love/hate thing for Felicia back then (she was fun to be around but had lots of energy, sometimes too much!) but generally liked being around her because she was so damn funny and never let you off the hook once she had you in a corner.

Nice to see that everyone is happy and doing well.

It has really been great learning how we changed and yet in ways we have done the same things in our lives…
Good luck with your new job. I am sure it will work out for the best..
