Mommy And Daddy Blues

Posted on February 20, 2008 - Filed Under Diet, Flu Sucks, General, Life

So that nasty flu thing that Alexander had? At almost the same time the other night Toni and I bolt out of bed and run to separate bathrooms to puke.  Nice.

The two of us have been down with the flu for several days, including a trip to the hospital for Toni because she was in so much pain.  I can only recall one other time I’ve felt this bad and that was when I had to enter the emergency room when I was in my early 20’s.  This is the worst flu ever.

48 hours of puke and diarrhea take their toll on you when you are older.  I thought it was something I would bounce back from as easily as I did when I was younger, guess not.  Sucks to get old.

We are lucky to have three excellent moms that came to our rescue.  My mom carted Toni to the ER yesterday morning, Toni’s mom came to my rescue at the house and took care of Alexander while I moaned and stayed in bed most of the day, and auntie Flower (who we consider another mom) tag teamed with my mom and brought Toni back from the ER and picked up prescriptions and things from the store for us. Very kind of the three of them to sacrifice getting the flu themselves to take care of us and I can’t thank them enough for the help.

We’re both still pretty weak today, a little better but nowhere near back to normal with both of us still getting sick.  I have a phone interview in an hour with T-Mobile and hope I don’t need to bolt during the interview to puke.

The good thing about all of this?  While I was sick I hit 174 lbs.  That’s one pound below my target of 175.  Yeah it’s cheating in a way, but I’ll take the victory just the same.
