Holidays and Disco Baby

We’ve survived Christmas.
Actually, we enjoyed this year more than most and things were pretty calm. Alexander didn’t understand what was going on, and didn’t quite figure out that presents were supposed to be opened but he enjoyed it anyway.
Alex carried one of his wrapped presents around the house for the week leading up to Xmas day. Once opened, he left it alone. It was an Elmo doll, something he is into right now, but I guess wrapping paper is more fun to have. In fact, he seems more happy with all of the stuff involved with getting Xmas ready more than the actual gifts. Wrapping paper, empty boxes and the wrapping paper tubes were all very exciting to him.
Usually this time of year is tense in my family. There is always a weird vibe underneath everything, almost like people are mad or something. Maybe it’s stress? I went from enjoying Xmas as a child, to hating it as a teen/young adult because I could always feel the tension and I didn’t want to be a part of it. Now that I have kids, and specifically a young child in the house, I am starting to warm up to the holidays again and find myself enjoying them more than in years past.
My survival method is simple. Pick up some hot buttered rum mix and a bottle of rum and relax after everyone is in bed for the night. :)

Alex has discovered music and enjoys dancing. His dance is kind of like a chicken walk, but he still moves with the beat. It’s a funny thing to watch because it’s like he can’t control himself when he hears music and he MUST DANCE no matter what he is doing. I’ve got video of his moves and will post them later to youtube.
