Baby Life - Week 40

Alex wont shut up. This is a good thing.
Alex started baby-talking last week and now he is on a roll, chatting non-stop about things only he can understand. Alex learned what “no” means and will shake his head when he knows that he has done a “no-no”.
We had a party for my mother last Friday and there was an 8-month old girl there. When Alex was next to her he looked like a giant! He is really a big boy for his age.
We are working on helping Alex stand up on his own and practice this daily. He is starting to get the idea with pulling himself up to stand but his body isn’t ready for it just yet. I can sense his frustration at not being able to walk and my heart goes out to him. He is such an outgoing and active baby that he wants to be part of the action and doesn’t want to wait for someone to pick him up.
Alex has a toy basket that we put on the floor for him to explore and play with. Most days we have to grab a few toys for him and he’ll play on his own for 30 minutes. Last night I put the basket down and waited to see what he would do. Two hours later he had all of the toys out of the basket and had kept himself entertained the entire time. It might not seem like a big deal, but those of you that have had kids can understand how happy I was.
Alex is now sleeping in his crib at night full time and we have had an easy time adjusting him to this routine.
