Baby Life - Week 39

Alexander is saying “da da” and “daddy” now on a regular basis. I’m not sure he understands what it means because he doesn’t look at me while doing it, but I don’t care.
We decided to have lunch at Red Robin a few days ago and I don’t know if it was all of the activity in the restaurant that set him off but out of nowhere he started with the “da da” stuff.
We have kicked him out of our bed at night and have him sleeping in his crib in the area next to our room and it’s going better than expected. The first few nights were difficult listening to him cry because I felt bad for him. Alex is now making it through most of the night without crying and is starting to understand that the crib is his area.
Our next task with Alex is to get him walking. I’ve been walking him around the house by holding his hands and letting him get used to moving his feet and legs. I think he understands what we are doing, because he will look down at his feet while walking and then look up at me, almost as if he is amazed that he is walking. I am also trying to get him to pull himself up into a standing mode while next to the couch.
Alex also learned how to move from his belly up to sitting. It sounds funny but it’s a big deal for him. Every day brings something new and I am blown away at how much we go through as babies just to get where we are.
