Xbox 360 Comes Home

Posted on July 20, 2007 - Filed Under Games, General, Life

One month is the length of time for my Xbox 360 repairs to happen from the day they received the unit, to the day it arrived back home.

The UPS guy asked me how many times I have had this happen because he has seen so many of these go in for repair that it’s a joke.  He also mentioned that this was the reason he would never buy an Xbox 360.  He owns a PS2, and for his next-gen console decided on a Wii which is getting used by everyone in his family, including the non-gamers like his wife.

I was going to call the XBox support number once my 360 was back from repairs so I could get a credit for the month of Xbox Live service that I missed.  No call was needed as Microsoft included a 1 month card in the return box.

I’m not going to crack the case to see what was done to fix the Red Ring of Death issue, but I can tell you that after hours of playing NCAA 2008 last night, my 360 was cool to the touch.  It also seems like the unit is not as loud as it was before entering for repair.

Got my original back. The unit has been much cooler than before, and I noticed that more heat is coming out of the back so I assume it’s got the new heat sink combo.
