Baby Life - Week 19

Welcome to week 19 which we will refer to as “sick child” week. WARNING: This post talks about puke and poop. You have been warned.
Travis came down with something viral which knocked him off his feet for the pst two days. Vomit and diarrhea for 12 hours solid, then a day or two of feeling bad. The doctor says we will all be lucky if we don’t catch what he has.
Alexander surprised us this week with an odd looking spit up that concerned us. Normally when babies are eating nothing but mothers milk or formula they tend to fire a few liquid barfs every now and then (usually when they are close to your face) as their way of saying hello.
Alexander puked up what I can only describe as a pudding-like dark substance with a little blood mixed in. I freaked out. A few calls to his doctor and we are finally ok. Turns out that this happens once in a blue moon, but we still need to keep an eye on him. If he fires another pudding bomb out of his mouth then we need to take him to the doctor for a look at his stomach and bowels.
Even with all of this going on there are still lots of laughs and fun in the house. Alex continues to flex his body and is sitting up more each day. He is also laughing, and finding ways to entertain himself which leads to LOTS of talking. It’s like his baby language expanded over night. I have no idea what he is saying, but I am sure it is important.
Last week I mentioned that I might get a layoff notice from my job. Turns out I am safe and things are back to normal.
