Baby Life - Week 19
Posted on March 5, 2007 - Filed Under Baby Life, Life
This was an interesting, and cold week.
Our oil furnace is probably 400 years old, and it had not been serviced in a long time. We lost heat Wednesday of last week and our house turned into a freezer. It didn’t help that temperatures outside were in the 30 degree range.
We “stopped freakin and called Beacon” who came out Wednesday to tell me that my furnace was toast, that if we’d taken care of it things would still be working, and that it will cost $1300 to fix it. The bonus? It would take three days.
We were walking ice cubes for three days, with everyone bundled up to keep warm. It was so bad we cranked up the oven just to heat the area near the kitchen. This was the only time I can recall that our dogs put aside their differences and decided to sleep near each other. When the dogs are cold, you know it’s bad.
Alexander hit a milestone this week — he learned to roll over from his stomach to his back! It was cool to see him fight through the frustration and get it done. I never thought I would be so proud over something like that.
We are certain that teething has started even though there are no teeth popping through. He drools more than a group of senior citizens at dinner time, and he is chewing on everything in sight.
We found out that he is not sleeping enough so we are making an effort to have him nap during the day. It’s not easy but it’s for his own good.
I am keeping busy with work and will find out Friday if I will get a layoff notice from work. This is typical for my company, I’ve gone through the layoff notice phase 4 or 5 times in the last 8 years so it’s not too bad but still a little stressful when you have a baby in the house and a family to support.
