Remote Support With LogMeIn

Posted on February 23, 2007 - Filed Under General

I’m that guy that my family calls when there is a computer problem. I don’t mind one bit because that’s what I do for a living and I enjoy helping family.

One problem is that I can’t always drive to someones house to take a look at their machine. I found a service called LogMeIn that has saved me time, and it’s FREE.

With a painless setup I am now able to log on to family computers remotley from my home machine, saving me time and driving miles when I need to help someone.

A great example of this is my wifes grandfather Mel. Mel needed some help but he lives a good 30 miles from our house and rather than wait until the weekend for us to drive down he can call me any time. I can logon to his machine with a secure session from my house and while we talk on the phone he can show me what sort of problem he has run into, and I can show him how to fix it.

LogMeIn offers a free service and expanded support service that costs money. I’ve been using the free service for a month now and have never run into problems.
