Baby Life – Week 14

This is the week that “hand to mouth” kicked in.
Alexander gained better coordination almost overnight and now has enough control to grab things and pull them towards his mouth. Uh oh.
Toni says this stage lasts until they are four, some would argue that it never ends. Either way this is when I have to really keep an eye out for items going towards his mouth. No teeth yet but we expect buds to start showing any time now.
Toni returns towork on Wednesday and has enough confidence to leave Alexander with me and the boys for a solid 4 hour stretch. We kind of had a trial run this weekend while Toni was shopping for work clothes. Things went well, but I attribute that to the fact that Grandma Janet and Auntie Flower were here to help out. I assume it will be a different story when it’s me and two teenage boys running the show.
It’s easy to make Alexander laugh now and there are a few words and phrases that will get him going. Words like poop, dance, baby and whoo work well. I can get him to totally bust up by saying “Does the baby want to dance at the Java Jive?” and it’s great.
