Baby Life - Week 8

Posted on December 19, 2006 - Filed Under Baby Life, Life

It’s hard to imagine that 8 weeks ago I was sitting in a hospital waiting for Alexander to arrive.

We found a small lump on the back of Alexander’s head two weeks ago behind his left ear that is getting larger so a visit to the doctor was scheduled.

The doctor says that it is probably related to the birth but doesn’t appear to be anything bad.  She would like us to keep an eye on it and schedule another visit if it gets larger.  It is one of those things that freaks you out because your mind starts thinking that it is the worst possible thing that it could be so “freakout parent” mode kicks in.

Alexander is up to a very healthy 12 lbs and the doctor was impressed by his gain because most of this has been through breast feeding.  He has a pot belly and thunder thighs but I am told that is normal for babies and you want them to be thick.   He looks like a mini Buddha when he sits in his diaper after a bath.

Sean and Travis continue to help out with Alexander unless it requires a diaper change, then the house becomes a ghost town and the boys are nowhere to be found.

The dogs like the fact that Alexander is gassy and enjoy the fact that we don’t blame them when someone farts.  You wont hear ‘The dog did it!’ now, but you hear ‘Wow did you hear Alexander break a beefer?!?’ even if the source didn’t come from the baby.  Toni just rolls her eyes at us but what can she expect living in a male dominated house?

I have been really tired the last few weeks because work is a pile of stress right now.  We just completed performance reviews and there are changes coming up next year that will require adjustments.  Not fun, but that’s part of the job.  Just looking forward to my winter break that runs from December 22nd to January 2nd.  I am going to take that time to sleep and recharge my internal batteries a bit.
