Baby Life - Week 6

Angst.
That small word describes the entire week with Alexander. Our sweet little baby boy has turned into an angry, crying, bag of fury this week.
His problem? Food.
Alexander is happy and carefree with a full belly, but the moment hunger hits he transforms into Captain Crankypants and it’s not a pretty sight.
We have been concerned with his non-stop hunger because he is being breast fed and Toni just can’t keep up so we consulted with our doctor. The doctor tells us that each time he feeds, he is just snacking and not going for a full meal and that we need to break that habit with him by feeding him every two hours instead of every hour.
I started to panic because not feeding him on his normal schedule means we deal with angry baby for an hour, so I asked if there was anything we could do to get him past that part of the day. The doctor suggested that we give him a few ounces of water to keep his belly full and that we should think about adding baby rice to his diet to help keep him full.
I’ll just get this one out of the way right now and save other parents the trouble — water does not work. In fact, water just pissed him off even more.
We are finally in a good pattern with him and things seem to have settled a bit. Toni will feed him and then we supplement with a few ounces of formula designed to help cut down on gas and keep him feeling full.
