Pregnancy: Week 22

Posted on June 27, 2006 - Filed Under Life

Welcome to week 22!

Just came home from the doctors office and things look great. The baby appears healthy and nothing abnormal on the ultrasound.

This is the first time we were able to see his face look like an actual baby, not an alien. Travis went with us an he swears the baby looks like me and was holding the picture up to my face to prove it. I will feel sorry for the baby if the child ends up looking like me!

Baby activity is in full motion now. He is moving much more than last week and we are able to feel him when he pushes or moves. To be honest, it’s kind of creepy to see my wifes stomach push out when he moves but that feeling passes when I realize that I have a son coming.

There is an ongoing debate in the house about my size when I was born. I claim that I was 8lbs. while everyone else claims I was just shy of 8lbs. I’ve been ranting that the baby will be a 10 pounder and making jokes about it quite a bit. My mother got into the act saying that I was a month late when I was born and would have been 6 lbs. if I had arrived on my due date. She is wrong of course, because she just had her dates mixed up.

The doctor confirmed my 10 pound theory today when he told us that the baby is above average size and weight. I beamed and gave my wife my “See… Told ya so!” look which was met with her look of “Have fun sleeping on the couch the next week”. Next doctor appointment is on week 26!
We have knocked down a wall on the top floor of our home and have some drywall work to do before the nursery is complete. Once this is done it will be full speed ahead to get things ready.

My wife commented that she is happy that I am writing all of this down because she is horrible when it comes to documenting things.  She failed to write in her baby books for the previous children so it looks like this responsibility falls on me.  The funny thing about this is her telling me what I should write on “that blog thing of yours” as she calls it.  I told her that if she wants me to post things on here bad enough she would take the time to get on the computer and do it herself.  Again I get the “Have fun sleeping on the couch” look.  Looks like me and the dogs will get to know each other better the next week.
