Pregnancy: Week 18
Posted on May 29, 2006 - Filed Under Life
Wife is doing great this week. Still looking great but we finally noticed her gaining a few pounds which is a good thing. She spent the holiday weekend shopping with her mother Pam for new baby items and they were kind enough to pick up a book for me.
The book is Be Prepared: A Practicle Handbook for New Dads by Gary Greenberg and Jeannie Haydon authors of “The Pop-Up Book of Phobias and Nightmares” and “Self-Helpless“. I’m not making that up. The cover looks like it is something right out of a 1950′s era Popular Mechanics magazine featuring chapters like:
“Why Your Partner May Not Be Functioning Properly” – Because she is a raging hormone with two legs?
“Bidding Farewell to the Breast” – I assume that means me doing the bidding farewell.
“Moms and Mood Swings” – What about dads and mood swings?
“Reading Sports Illustrated to Your Baby” – Finally one I can understand!!
“Getting Medicine into a Baby” – If this involves anything other than putting it into their mouth I am in serious trouble.
“Wrestling the Breast Pump” – I have seen the diagram and it terrifies me. It looks like a car battery with two cables that are connected to air horns. I’m supposed to attach these to my wife and extract milk?
“Rigging Emergency Diapers” – Using a towel, a sock and duct tape! Take that MacGyver!
I’ll be busy with this one for the next month or so, but plan to give a full review once I have completed it.
